I am a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) with the Association for Nutrition (AfN). The AfN holds the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), which is “a register of competent, qualified nutrition professionals who meet [their] rigorously applied standards for scientifically sound evidence-based nutrition and its use in practice. The UKVRN is the only register recognised by Public Health England and the NHS.” I am an active and accredited nutritionist on the UKVRN register.
Since having being awarded an MSc (Hons) in Equine Science with distinction, I have worked for leading feed and supplement companies in senior roles that include Head of Nutrition, and have been at the forefront of nutritional assessments, reports, education and advice for owners, retail businesses, riding schools, veterinary practices, and world renowned riders.
I am an Associate Fellow of Higher Education, which is “awarded to recognise an individual’s effectiveness of practice in teaching and/or support of learning as demonstrated through evidence meeting the criteria of application and use of appropriate professional values and core knowledge”, who has experience teaching veterinary and equine science students.
As part of a professional and highly skilled team, I have conducted, authored and published research in a peer reviewed scientific journal that performed ground breaking research into haynet feeding strategies.
Hodgson S, Bennett-Skinner P, Lancaster B, Upton S, Harris P, Ellis AD. Posture and Pull Pressure by Horses When Eating Hay or Haylage from a Hay Net Hung at Various Positions. Animals. 2022; 12(21):2999. https://doi.org/10.3390/ani12212999
I have presented at and attended national and international conferences and conventions, trade shows and educational institutions, provided staff training both in-house and to other businesses, published articles in well-known magazines such as Equine Trade News and British Eventing, including CPD content for SQP features, and has completed feed safety training certification.
Prior to this I was awarded a BSc Hons in Psychology, and have worked as a researcher, project manager, student ambassador, classroom assistant, health care assistant, nanny, coach, and groom!
My background brings a unique appreciation and understanding of individuals, with an abundance of empathy and compassion to consultations, which includes a personal and holistic approach to support. With a wealth of personal and professional experience across disciplines, breeds, clinical conditions, and goals, you can be assured of quality and considered advice.\n\n[/cs_content_seo][/cs_element_layout_div][/cs_element_section][cs_element_section _id=”6″ ][cs_element_layout_div _id=”7″ ][cs_element_image _id=”8″ ][cs_element_text _id=”9″ ][cs_content_seo]Find me on LinkedIn and get connected:\n\n[/cs_content_seo][cs_element_social _id=”10″ ][/cs_element_layout_div][/cs_element_section][cs_element_section _id=”11″ ][cs_element_layout_grid _id=”12″ ][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”13″ ][cs_element_image _id=”14″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”15″ ][cs_element_image _id=”16″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”17″ ][cs_element_image _id=”18″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”19″ ][cs_element_image _id=”20″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”21″ ][cs_element_image _id=”22″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][cs_element_layout_cell _id=”23″ ][cs_element_image _id=”24″ ][/cs_element_layout_cell][/cs_element_layout_grid][/cs_element_section][/cs_content]
